Football for all cause 

The 8th edition of Mongar regional referral hospital intra departmental football tournament started at Mongar public ground on 11th November coinciding with the birth anniversary of fourth king Jigme Singye Wangchuk and ended successfully with final on 24th November. 

This tournament is an annual event of MRRH with six teams participating for the very first time, till last year the tournament was competed by only four teams. The teams are from the various departments and units of the hospital,they are Emergency FC, OT United, Level Negative 1 FC, OPD United, IPD United FC and ICU-Gyane United.

Champions of season 8 “OPD FC”

Intra departmental tournament has been organized as an annual event with the objectives : 

1. To emphasize on physical health. 

2. To encourage socialization among various departmental staff.

 3. To ensure unity and cooperation among staff. 

4. To create public unawareness on significance of games and sports in health. 

The format of the tournament has been super league with elimination round till last year but this season’s format was a round robin tournament with top four teams of round robin play elimination semifinal and final. There were a total of 18 explosive and thrilling matches. 

The defending and six time champion Nursing FC has dominated tournament for long with six titles from 8 seasons. This season nursing team has been dissolved leading to six teams participating for the first time. 

Table topper IPD United FC

The table topper of league IPD United FC lost semifinal match against OPD United who was fourth on table and in another semifinal ER FC lost to third placed Level negative 1 FC setting exciting final between OPD and Level negative 1 FC.

Runners up Level negative 1 FC 

The final played on 24th November the Sunday witnessed closely contested match for glory and title with OPD United edging over Level negative 1 FC by small margin. This is second time OPD United is lifting trophy after their maiden title in 2017 season. The unwavering support from individual unit staff with exciting matches and fun filled games entertained public for the last fortnight.
